Would you

I wonder how much faith you would put into the sincerity of a person who says they are self made and came from nothing, then it came to light that their career began at their father's real estate company? Which they were given and were able to expand because of their father's financial and political backing that enabled them to do their first deals, demolishing and renovating landmark buildings. Would you trust a person who in order to avoid the financial ruin of their businesses used methods which were legally dubious to avoid paying taxes, and whose own lawyers described their activities as improper. When we consider the people who have come from poverty or lived near the edge of poverty throughout parts of their younger lives and have been able to build a world around themselves that supports a comfortable living experience for their families, then we can compare and see what self made really looks like. For one to be raised in a household that has millions of dollars available to them and call it hardship while receiving an occasional million dollar hand up is not the same as being in a place where you may be eating the weeks leftovers because the fridge is empty of anything else and you are waiting for the paycheck to clear so you can replenish your food. Would you really trust someone who compares a life of what has been full of wealth with those that have had to be hungry or cold many times in their lives? I myself find it difficult to believe that there is a true understanding of what being self made is when a person comes from a place of wealth and has never had to worry about eating scraps from a nearly empty fridge. May we all know who to trust when we are looking to leaders and guides in our lives. I hope we recognize when words are being used to manipulate our faith in each other and divide us from those who truly understand who we are and what we have been through. Everyone has been through their own form of hardship, but that does not always mean that each person has come out with the same level of perseverance and ability to empathize with how much hunger and lack of life's comforts can hurt. What have you been through, and are you putting your trust in those people who can really understand where you are from? I hope we put our trust in people who can recognize us and are willing to support us through our challenges and trials.
Love,
PEACE
